The water bowl includes a PVC pipe in the center where a hole was cut in the bottom of the bowl. This was fit using an aquarium bulkhead so there is a watertight seal around the hole and pipe. The result is that when the bowl reaches a certain level it will overflow into the pipe. This allows for the bowl to essentially be cleaned out as it is overflowed many times a day.
The solenoid that controls water flow is strapped to the bottom of the cabinet with an adaptor for regular garden hose threads on one end, and a barbed end for a flexible tube on the other side. The tube is held in place with some plastic loops and runs through a wood block so it's pointed into the water bowl. A white RV water hose is used to run water to the solenoid as it's safer for my dog, with fewer chemicals than a garden hose, and the same price.
The overflow PVC pipe was fit with a 90-degree elbow that runs the pipe to the other side of the cabinet so that it points toward my lawn in my back yard based on where I have the dogbot placed.
